Who We Are

Luz Estelar Bags is a company that designs bags for people with disabilities from people with disabilities.

We aim to provide a functional and easily accessible bag for individuals who have disabilities, both visible and invisible. As a group we have brainstormed the possible target audience for our bags, and have decided we would make a bag that can suit the needs of a large variety of people.

We are a team of dedicated people with various skills. From engineers, to artists and graphic designers, Luz Estelar is filled with members who provide each other with feedback, personal insights, and new ideas.

Our Story

It all started in Boston, MA at Wentworth Institute of Technology, where our founder had the idea to start a business to create bags aimed for individuals with disabilities, all from personal experience as a disabled person using bags that didn’t suit her needs.

Soon the idea reached like-minded people, friends, peers, and family. Eventually it sparked into a small community with the goal to make bags that suits the needs of every type of disability.

After thoughtful discussion and inspiration, we eventually came to pitch our idea, that further helped us to become what we are today. We wish to continue achieving our goals to eventually make bags for people who need something comfortable, and accessible to use in their everyday lives.

    Making sure everyone is able to find what they need, that fits with their everyday life and activities. We aim to research every bit of necessities many different people may need in order to provide a product that fits the needs of all of our consumers.

    Bringing satisfaction down to every material and item, making sure everyone is pleased with their bags and products. We make sure to make our products with eco-friendly material and material that fits the preferences of our consumers. We want to make sure everyone is satisfied with that they have chosen to purchase.

    We strive to be able to communicate with our clients who wish to ask questions or ask for help. Communication is something we value very much as we create our community. We aim to empathize with our consumers as much as possible and are willing to receive insight from people who may know things from experience.

    We want to be honest and trustworthy to our community. We aim to keep our promise of providing products that can help as many people as possible, and we want to prioritize care and communication within our business.

  • Design & Artistry

    We want our bags to be something you have pride in carrying around. Something you enjoy holding and looking at. Our designs come from in house to make something cute, cool, and enjoyable. Our designs come in mind for the client who wants something to fit them whether it be personality, interests, even favorite color.

Your Questions, Answered

  • The name of this company came from multiple influences. As an African American and Portuguese person I know how important stars are to both of my cultures. I wanted to be able to include both of my cultures and my company name to have meaning. Luz Estelar translates to stellar light or starlight in Portuguese. I also like the idea of the company being a light in a dark world. ~ Allucero Faria

  • We do not currently offer any products. We are still making our prototypes so that our bags are perfect before we release it. If you have any suggestions or questions please feel free to contact us. We would love to hear from you!

  • We work directly with people who have the disability we are making the bag for. We also understand what it is like to have a disability. We want to make every day a little easier.

    Our mission is to make sure that people with both visible and invisible have a product made for them.

  • We are always open to suggestions in order to make our product better. If you have any suggestions feel free to reach out on our contact page. On our Instagram we also have some forms to fill out so your suggestion can be viewed there (everything is anonymous).
